For nearly three decades, doctors in Germany have prescribed a standardized extract of the herb butterbur to their patients suffering from nasal discomfort and its related problems. Butterburs main active ingredient is petasin, a phytochemical that may inhibit leukotriene synthesis, inhibit inflammatory effector cell functions, and reduce spasms in smooth muscle, thus relaxing swollen nasal membranes. Butterbur Extract with Standardized Rosmarinic Acid contains a patented butterbur extract. State-of-the-art technology allows for standardization of butterburs key active ingredients while ensuring that the extract is free of any undesirable compounds, including pyrrolizidine alkaloids. This formula also contains standardized rosmarinic acid, a plant polyphenol derived from rosemary leaf. Rosmarinic acid helps regulate inflammatory responder cells, thus providing effective, temporary relief while supporting healthy immune function and normal respiratory function. Luteolin, another plant flavonoid, has been shown to help maintain healthy DNA and support a healthy inflammatory process. Also included is perilla leaf extract.
