Red blood cells (RBCs) are a component of our blood, which are responsible for carrying oxygen to the cells. When our body does not have enough healthy RBCs, doctors call this condition as anemia. There are many types of anemia, one of which is iron deficiency anemia. In this type of anemia, the body does not have enough iron hence it makes fewer than necessary RBCs or very small RBCs. A person with anemia may feel tired and weak and, often has a decreased immunity with more susceptibility to infections.
