I've tried a variety of safer hair dyes (i.e. Naturtint) and henna is the only coloring where I don't have an allergic reaction (no skin irritation). I have black hair and use Surya dark brown color which turns my white strands a pretty reddish brown, like highlights!

Safe Hair Dye--Doesn't Damage Hair

I buy Surya Brasil Henna Cream Dark Brown hair dye. I can dye my hair once per month without damage. In fact, I can grow my hair long dying with this product, because it doesn't break off my hair! It smells great and has no ammonia or hydrogen peroxide. It is all natural. The only thing is that it is a semi-permanent dye, so it starts to fade to red after two weeks. Still, it is worth it! I highly recommend this product!
